About the Author
Oriel Ceballos is a Brooklyn-raised artist, author, curator, and educator who was born in Panama. Before becoming a full time artist at age 33, Oriel studied at Brooklyn College, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Teachers College, Columbia University.
Since becoming a full time artist, Oriel has showcased in over 40 group exhibitions, many of which he curated. He has also hosted several solo shows, including a solo show curated by Swizz Beatz. In addition, Oriel has written and illustrated several books, as well as a music album cover and a book for a reputable author, Issac Curry. His style as a gallery artist who engages the streets has led him to sell thousands of paintings since 2017. The success is the result of his daily dedication as a street vendor in New York City. He is known for connecting with people from all walks of life, and is a mentor to many young and emerging artists. This has led to his feature in more than a dozen short documentaries, and interviews by both international and local filmmakers. Through hard work and dedication, Oriel’s art has reached six continents, and they are now in art collector’s home the world over.
Before becoming a full time artist at age 33, Oriel worked as a private teacher, tutor, and college professor throughout his 20’s. In his early 30’s, Oriel left the U.S. to live with his daughter and wife in Ecuador, Panama, Portugal, and Spain. After his travels (which spanned about 11 months), he decided to live as an itinerant painter and teacher—influencing the world with his critical art and books.
